This web lecture focused on three fundamental angles to build a program. The first one is the planning and policy context. Planning characteristics differ from one country to the next. Secondly, it is essential to structure contact with a (political) client. A third aspect that must be covered by the program architecture is giving structure to the way of dealing with participation of locals, other stakeholders, NGO’s, and lobby groups.

In the first weblecture you were introduced to the first three angles which need to be combined in program architecture. In the second weblecture professor Sijmons will go more in depth into the other 3 angles.

This web lecture described three other critical angles for building a program: basic program management, program refinement, and dealing with uncertainties. The first one refers to structuring the information flow of the project. The second one means that extras can be superimposed on top of the basic program management, which may elevate the program to a level of excellence. Finally, to deal with uncertainties, it is important to know that they cannot be eliminated but can be reduced in complex systems.
