07. Maps of folds
Chapters
Folds are exciting geometrical objects since they have an endless variety of shapes and sizes. This chapter starts therefore with the terms to describe the structural elements of fold profiles. The map patterns belonging to cylindrical, upright and horizontal folds are then discussed. Terms to describe more complex folds, such as asymmetrical, overturned and upright plunging are discussed through paragraphs 3 to 5. The final section illustrates reclined folds, recumbent folds and monoclines.
