Block 2: Geometric Nonlinearity
Blocks 2, 3, and 4 include homework assignments to help the student better understand the theory. These homework assignments provide a link between the analytical solution gained from the theory and numerical solutions extracted from models.
Block 2 includes a homework assignment that deals with a shallow truss that undergoes large deformations and rotations under loading. Using engineering decisions and the theory from this block a solution scheme has to be set up, which is then converted into a calculation program in Matlab. For those who do not have access to Matlab, Python is a valid alternative, as mentioned on the software page of this course.
