Module 4. Remanufacturing
David Peck interviews Dr Nabil Nasr from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), USA. Nabil Nasr is director of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at RIT, and a renowned remanufacturing expert. Our first question to him was “What is remanufacturing, and how does it compare to repair and refurbishment”? This led to an interesting answer.

MAIN TAKEAWAYS:
- Repair, refurbishment and remanufacturing refer to different processes.
- Repair and refurbishment are about bringing a product back to a working condition and making sure it will function, whereas remanufacturing brings the product back to a like new condition. Remanufacturing is the ‘rebirth’ of a product.
