4.2.1 What is remanufacturing?

Course subject(s) Module 4. Remanufacturing

David Peck interviews Dr Nabil Nasr from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), USA. Nabil Nasr is director of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at RIT, and a renowned remanufacturing expert. Our first question to him was “What is remanufacturing, and how does it compare to repair and refurbishment”? This led to an interesting answer.

Sorry but there don't seem to be any downloads..

MAIN TAKEAWAYS:

  • Repair, refurbishment and remanufacturing refer to different processes.
  • Repair and refurbishment are about bringing a product back to a working condition and making sure it will function, whereas remanufacturing brings the product back to a like new condition. Remanufacturing is the ‘rebirth’ of a product.
