Course subject(s) Module 6. Thinking in Systems

TAKING THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY TO THE NEXT LEVEL

In episode 2 you learned what it means for an individual company to close the loop. This episode’s focus is at the global level. What if all companies in the world close their loops? The case we are studying is metals.Would a Circular Economy prevent us from running out of metals? What would the environmental benefits be? How long would it take to reach this Circular Economy of metals, assuming ideal conditions?

These are major questions. In this episode, Dr Ester van der Voet from Leiden University joins us to provide an industrial ecology perspective. In this first video Ester introduces the topic in more detail.
