4.1.1 Lecture: Future technology for electric cars

Course subject(s) Module 4. Future Electric Mobility

There are several important technologies and emerging trends in electric vehicle and charging infrastructure design. Of these, the key technologies are those of the vehicle powertrain design, solar electric vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles, future charging technologies like wireless charging and battery swap, and finally autonomous electric vehicles, amongst many others.

In this lecture by Pavol Bauer, we will discuss key trends in electric vehicle powertrain and battery technology. Then we will look at solar electric vehicles and fuel cell electric vehicles. Following that, we will learn about the vital technologies for future of EV charging namely, battery swap technology, wireless charging, smart charging, and V2G. Finally, the lecture will conclude with introducing autonomous electric vehicles and show us how it can totally change the mobility landscape.

Learning goals:

      1. Trends in vehicle powertrain design
      2. Solar EV
      3. Fuel cell EVs
      4. Future charging technology for EVs –Battery swap, Wireless charging, Smart charging and V2G
      5. Autonomous EVs
