1.4.1 Lecture: Electric motors for electric vehicles

Course subject(s) Module 1. How does an EV work?

Where in the previous lecture, we discussed different drivetrains, during this lecture we will dive further into the motor itself. Auke will discuss how the classic electric motor, the brushed DC motor, works and will then elaborate on more modern motors that are currently conventionally used in EVs. He will discuss advantages and disadvantages of each of the motor types and then draw his final conclusions about the future of EV motors.
