In this lecture Prof. Ir. R. Alderliesten talks about aircraft structures, defining the airframe, primary and secondary structure.  Functions of the different types of elements are discussed, specifically shell structures, stiffeners and the interaction between the two.

Alternatives are discussed such as composite sandwich structures and integral structures. The second half of the lecture focuses on applying the structural elements discussed in the first part on actual wings.
