Topographic geological maps

Course subject(s) 02. Topographic geological maps Chapters

Since much of structural geology is concerned with the representation and production of geological maps, the understanding of the maps and all its contents is of great importance. The first part of the maps explained are the elevation contours, which represent the morphology or shape of the landscape. In the second part of the chapter, it is explained that any pronounced relief in the ground surface affects the shape of the outcrop pattern. The chapter is concluded with an introduction into geological cross-sections and columnar sections.
