This lecture is about how to trace the material (sediment) and water from source areas to the sea following a source-to-sink approach. First the source areas are explained. Thereafter, the movement driven by gravity will be treated. In the next will be dealt with glacier movement. Subsequently, the movement driven by water is explained. This is followed by the formation or change of the river gradients. Then an explanation will be given about the flood plains. This lecture ends just before entering the sea. From this point the next lecture will go further.
