So now that we have seen that a linear relationship exists between the force exerted on a spring and the extension of a spring, it does make one wonder what this means for other materials?
In the next video lecture, Gillian explains how most materials deform and how Hooke’s law can be generalized to describe the deformation of materials under load by introducing the concepts of stress and strain.
