In the next video, Gillian demonstrates why aircraft and spacecraft design has evolved from trusses and wires to using thin-walled sheets.

You could, by the way, easily replicate this demonstration yourself with the use of some ice-cream sticks, split pens, some thin rope and tissue paper!
