4.4.4 Lecture Torsion

Course subject(s) Module 4. Loads and Stresses

Do you remember the vertical tail of the aircraft that was subjected to a wind load, causing torsion of the fuselage? In this lecture, you will focus on this specific loading of the fuselage: torsional loading. Torsion is the loading case that creates a twisting moment. You will learn how this twisting moment creates stresses, strains, and shear flow into the fuselage structure.
