5.3.3 Lecture: Frequency Design Criteria
Course subject(s)
Module 5. Selection of Materials and Structures
The critical design requirement for spacecraft is that the natural frequency of the spacecraft that is being launched is well above the natural frequency of the launch vehicle. In this lecture, Gillian takes you through the reasons behind this and introduces a simple model to calculate natural frequencies. She also explains the process of how to size a spacecraft such that it can withstand both the dynamic and the static loads.
