7. Aircraft & Spacecraft Loads

Course subject(s) Structural Engineering Lectures

In this lecture Prof. Ir. R. Alderliesten talks about loads and load paths in aircraft and spacecraft. After explaining the term ‘load path’ he looks at different loads occurring on aircraft and the ways these are carried throughout the structure.

Not only quasi-static loads need to be determined, but also dynamic ones, so as an example a fluttering wing is shown. Finally the relevant loads acting on spacecraft are listed. The second half of the lecture is dedicated to determining stresses for major loaded structures of the aircraft, such as the pressure vessel and the wing.
