Multiple Degree-of-Freedom Structure

Discrete Structures
This is an applied example where we deal with multiple degree-of-freedom structures. The same principles apply as for the single degree-of-freedom structures above, however, we now introduce matrices and the positive definiteness of the potential energy will no longer be determined by whether a scalar is larger than zero, but the rules of positive definite matrices have to be applied. Furthermore it is shown that a linearised buckling analysis is an eigenvalue problem.
