2.3.1 Introduction to Manufacturing of Metals

Course subject(s) Module 2. Materials and Manufacturing Methods

Selecting the right materials is an important part of the daily work of an aerospace structures and materials engineer. However, these materials must also be manufactured into a workable shape in order to create a part that can actually be fitted to an aircraft or spacecraft. In this section the different production processes for metals are discussed.

Hannah Hypothesis will also show you the challenges of the casting process using chocolate! To finish this section, we have included some bonus material: a set of links to external videos that show some of the manufacturing processes of metals.
