2.4.1 Introduction to Composite Manufacturing

Course subject(s) Module 2. Materials and Manufacturing Methods

In this section of Module 2, we will dive further into how composites are manufactured. We will take a closer look at the different combinations of short and long fibers vs thermosets and thermoplastics as well as looking at the details of some frequently used production processes for composites.

After these lectures, tape-laying, filament winding, and RTM will be be familiar terms to you.

Also, Hannah Hypothesis will be exploring what the difference is in creating shapes in composites and metals and how that affects the design process.
