3.4.1 Introduction to Wing Structures

Course subject(s) Module 3. Aerospace Structures

In this section on Aerospace Structures, the individual function of the different components of an aircraft wing will be discussed. As you know by now, a wing is typically built up out of the following 3 elements, as is also shown in the photo above:

  • Ribs
  • Spars
  • Wing Skin panels

We will also explain their combined function as a coherent whole. Starting with Ribs, we continue on to spars and end with the Skin-Spar Assembly.
