Course subject(s) Module 5. Selection of Materials and Structures

Engineering structures are a compromise between structural performance/capability and constraints on the system they are contained within.

Structural performance/capability is a function of:

  • Properties of materials used in the structural design
  • Geometrical features and dimensional aspects of that particular structure

This is aside from any manufacturing aspects that must also be considered.
