In any modern profession, and therefore in earth sciences and map interpretation, computer literacy is helpful. It will facilitate the display and moreover manipulation of geological graphics. Professional systems have become more affordable and more widely available in the previous years. With that, software is also rapidly improving and diversifying. This chapter discusses some of the options currently avaiable. It starts with the digital future of map representations. Hardware and software items are then discussed in sections two and three respectively. Geographical Information Systems and dynamic digital maps are the subjects of sections four and five. Section 17-6 gives some hints for online resources of maps. The chapter ends with the role of interfacing platforms in industrial applications.
