Het dictaat bestaat uit vijf hoofdstukken, drie daarvan zijn op deze pagina te vinden.
Het eerste hoofdstuk is een introductie tot het vak. Dit hoofdstuk gaat in op de doelen van meten en de nauwkeurigheid van meten. Ook is er een leeswijzer inbegrepen
Het tweede hoofdstuk hoort bij de colleges over waterbalans. In dit hoofdstuk worden metingen aan regen, verdamping, grondwater en debiet behandeld.
Hoofdstuk vier gaat in op water in de stad.  Dit kan worden opgedeeld in stedelijke afwatering en drinkwater. Dit hoofdstuk correspondeert met de colleges water in de stad.

The reader consists of five chapters, three of them have been elaborated:

The first chapter is the introduction to the course, in this chapter the purposes of measuring, the accuracy of measurements and reading instructions for the other chapters are included.
The second chapter corresponds with the lectures about waterbalance. In this chapter measurements on rainfall, evaporation, soil water, ground water and discharge are discussed.
Chapter four discusses water in the city. This can be divided in Urban drainage and drinking water. This chapter corresponds with the lectures: ‘Water in de stad‘
