In lecture 11, prof.dr.ir. C. van Rhee will explain about ‘Hopper sedimentation’ in two parts. In this lecture he will give an introduction to a hopper dredge and will then give a description about the TSHD (Trailer Suction Hopper Dredgers) process and explains more on settling velocity. For this lecture it is important to know the influence of concentration, the differences between the settling velocity of one particle and of more than one particle and it is important to understand the difference between settling velocity and sedimentation velocity.
