Part B: Physical complexity of infra-systems

Course subject(s) Module 1: Complexity of Infrastructure

Part B: Physical complexity of infra-systems

In this second part about the physical complexity of infra-systems, two important drivers for infrastructure development are presented, these are economies of scale and network externalities. Then we will see that there are actually ways to predict the behaviour of infra-systems to a certain extend. By looking at the aggregated patterns in the behaviour of the system and at the influence of path dependency, operators can respond to the behaviour of infra-systems.
