The importance of regulation

In this interview, Professor José Ignacio Pérez Arriaga  from MIT and Comillas University (Institute for Research in Technology) looks at the importance of regulation. He stresses that ‘No regulation is also regulation‘ and that regulation has to be ‘Loud, long and Legal‘. He also stresses the importance of regulation for new bottom-up initiatives like microgrids and for clean technologies. He also answers the question many of you might have: ‘Is there a link between standardization and regulation?’

Professor Pérez Arriaga is currently involved as an advisor in a large number of rural electrification projects in developing countries around the globe, so it might be interesting to have a look at his publications.
