Na een korte samenvatting van de vorige module word begonnen met een uitleg over interpolatie, een techniek om specifieke waarden uit algemene tabellen te berekenen. De volgende definitie die wordt behandeld is het thermisch evenwicht, wat betrekking heeft tot de nulde hoofdwet van thermodynamica. Vervolgens wordt een stap gezet richting de eerste hoofdwet van de thermodynamica met een introductie over energieën en arbeid.
